Hello, I'm Martin.

Born in Wakefield, West Yorkshire. One of four boys to my sweet beleaguered mum who picks home delivery orders at ASDA. Somehow I ended up a copywriter in London.

 

The route here was pretty scenic. I’ve poured pints, stacked shelves, sold books,  shovelled gravel, flipped burgers, scanned vegetables and hung clothes.

Advertising was the last stop, and I never take it for granted.

I've always loved to write. My first ever poem, all about Martians stealing your chocolate bars, got in the primary school yearbook. My first ever award. That instinct for words never went away. These days I'm sharpening it with improv classes at the Free Association. 

​

I was also recently diagnosed with ADHD. Which in hindsight explains quite a lot. The wonky thinking, the hyperfocus, the ability to have seventeen ideas at once while losing my keys. I'm learning to use it like a tool rather than fight it like a flaw.

I'd love to buy my mum a holiday one day.

I'd love to make work that knocks the socks off my mum’s friends.

The best thing about advertising is those things aren’t that different.
